New legislation is due to come in to force 1st March 2017.
Drivers caught using a hand-held phone or similar device will receive six penalty points and a £200 fine. There will not be any option to take part in any driver improvement course.
You can use hands-free phones, satellite navigation systems and two-way radios when you’re driving. But if the police have reason to believe that you are distracted and not in control of your vehicle you could still be prosecuted.
